Meet Emma, Founder of Biscuit Communications
Jan 26, 2026This is Emma, founder of Biscuit Communications and mum of 2. Find out more about Emma and her business below:
Tell us about your business
I'm a Marketing Strategist. I've worked in marketing for 25 years this year, 15 years in-house and 10 years self-employed.
I coach and mentor female founders who are overwhelmed and struggling with marketing their business. This helps owners see how important strategy is, and what an impact it has across ALL areas of your business.
What made you want to start your own business?
I left work initially to freelance when my eldest started school. I didn't think I'd be working for myself for this long!
As a business owner myself, I fundamentally understand just how difficult it is to juggle everything... but also why this makes having the right strategy for you SO important. I'm super passionate about it. People think marketing is social media posting. Then we work together and they have lightbulb moments about their offer suite, goals, and how their business is structured or running!
How do you manage the juggle of running your business around being a mum?
Being super disciplined and organised. I'm a planner & list maker (on paper of course). And remember why you're doing it in the first place!
What’s one thing you’ve learned in your business that you wish you’d known sooner?
First, invest in yourself before you feel ready. I hesitated for years before committing to high-level coaching because I was protecting profits. But that investment has given me confidence. Find programmes with accountability and inspiring founders who understand your journey.
Learning to work ON my business rather than just IN it was transformative but difficult. Like many service providers, I fell into the trap of prioritising client delivery over my own business development. I was brilliant at helping others grow while neglecting my own strategic planning.
The shift came when I invested heavily in my own development. That required a mindset change from viewing it as expense to recognising it as essential investment. It meant making peace with temporary profit reduction while trusting in future returns. That requires faith and the ability to back yourself.
This taught me to practice what I preach about strategic growth, and I strongly believe in accountability and community. That decision has enabled the clarity and confidence to scale my Done-With-You mentoring programmes, which is exactly where I want to grow.
What’s your go-to Founder Mum life hack that saves you time or sanity?
Make friends with AI and how to use it. It can be super helpful & effective if you use it well.
What are your core values when it comes to your business?
Sustainability, in terms of being able to manage what's thrown at you without burning out. Otherwise, clarity, authenticity, realism.
Why did you join the Founder Mums Club?
To have fun and network!
What has been your biggest lesson and what's your advice for other Founder Mums?
Back yourself more. Apply for awards even when you don't think you'll win. Pitch to the big podcasts or speaking events. Take up space. Share your expertise. The imposter syndrome never fully goes away, but you can learn to act despite it. Have faith, do the work, keep showing up.
